Plan less, play more — world‑class golf meets unforgettable wildlife.
Safari Golfing NZ runs small-group trips through South Africa's best golf courses and game reserves — one fairway, one sighting at a time. Now taking bookings for the 2027 safari season, June to September — choose your own dates as a group.
South Africa has some of the finest golf courses on earth — and they happen to sit inside some of its wildest country.
We've run a few of these trips now, and the pattern holds every time: a game drive at first light, eighteen holes in the afternoon, dinner under a thatched roof somewhere in between. It's not a golf trip with a safari bolted on, or the other way around. It's one trip, built properly, by people who've actually done it many times over and keep going back.
We're not a New Zealand travel agency that visited South Africa a few times and liked it. My wife and I are South African-born — the courses, the reserves, the roads between them, this is home ground to us. We're just showing you around.
Destinations, courses and reserves we know personally, and an itinerary that never makes you choose between a tee time and a sighting.
Championship courses laid into bushveld, riverbank and highland terrain — every one walked and played by us many times over.

Open-vehicle game drives at first light, wrapped up in time for an afternoon tee time — from chasing the lion sighting to chasing birdies on course.

Six championship courses and two Big Five reserves, built into one trip — book as a group and choose when you go.
While the golfers are on the course, the rest of the group has its own itinerary entirely — I run the golf side, my wife runs this side.
Sunrise flights over Pilanesberg National Park — a very different way to see the bush than from a vehicle.
A second drive scheduled for exactly when the golfers tee off, so nobody's waiting around at the lodge.
Elephant Whispers in Hazyview — hands-on time with a resident herd, guided by their handlers.
Glide down the glass lift into the forest, cross the suspension bridge and cliff walk — or add the zipline and Big Swing for those chasing more of a thrill.
Non-golfing partners and friends are genuinely welcome on every trip — this isn't an afterthought bolted on to a golf tour.
